Lamb Recovery

Mr Ashmore-Smith got some colostrum (special milk for new-borns) and a feeding tube from the vet.

We inserted the tube 30cm down the lamb's throat into its stomach, and poured 30ml of colostrum down the tube.
After about an hour, DJ lifted her head, made a noise, and tried to climb out of her box. She then drank some more colostrum from a bottle, and has been drinking well since.

This is a photo of DJ 24hours after her "rescue"...

Lamb Rescue

We found this lamb in a paddock not responding or feeding. She was weak, tired and had a cold nose and mouth. She had hypothermia.

We took her into class and put towels and hot water bottles around her, we fed her warm milk and kept giving her attention. DJ (Delilah Junior, named after her mother) is now starting to lift her head, open her eyes and move her mouth, and is feeding tiny amounts from a bottle.

Soap Making

We made some soap from caustic soda, olive oil and coconut oil, and we hope to sell it at our school fair, The Spring Burst next month.

We poured the mixture into take-away coffee cups and left them to harden. Today we used a wire cake slicer to cut the blocks into smaller pieces of soap.

These are the ingredients for how to make the soap.
